A dramatic day of contrasts

It was a dramatic day of contrast today over Mounts bay with a brisk tormenting wind and ever changing light. I turned from taking some photos of the rosemary and olives against the courtyards warm walls cocooned in the shelter, to look out over Moutns Bay and in an instant the sun disapeared only to throw this dramatic light down on to one of the boats that tend to shelter there, in the lea of St Micheal's Mount when the seas are running.

In total contrast of subject hasn't Bodkin grown!

  1. Hi Christine, Bodkin is looking so handsome now !
Just thought I'd tell you that our neighbours cat has not been seen for a couple of days - it's white with a tabby style tail & ears (I think) he was seen being stalked by a fox - he's not been here long so isn't very savvy in the ways of the Cornish countryside ! Do let me know if you should see him on any of your fields Many thanks, Sue

  2. Hi Sue, isn't he just "the man"!! I was so sorry to hear about the poor cat your new neighbours must be devastated - awful introduction to country life. I'll certainly look out for the cat - lets hope he/she has just got disorientated - they tend to follow the footpaths around the field margins so it may pass by eventually.
We've been watching a pair of foxes working the fields out of our kitchen window since 6th January and a lovely dog fox was just below our palms under the post and rail only this morning - food for thought. We've just given the horses their late night super and there was some frantic Spud calling until he came tonight - All tucked up now so night night Christine

  3. A fox would have it's work cut out to waylay a cat,.. straight up the nearest tree for the cat; but how distressing now for the owners. When he/she turns up, buttering it's feet and keeping it in the home for a few days works, keeps the cat busy licking and familiarising it's surroundings. Hope all is well soon.

Highest tide of the year up here tomorrow so I'll get the wellies on! Patricia.

  4. I hope so Patricia - the foxes are all on the move at the moment - Spud was nerly caught by a naughty dog the other day when he missed his jump into the hedge and fell back into the lane under the dogs nose - every hair on his body stood on end and he spat in its face - dog looked embarassed and trotted off! I haven't heard if they've found the cat yet but buttered paws do the trick.

Good luck with the high tide!!Christine
